Report on Legal and Institutional Frameworks for the Integrated Management of Chemicals in Latin America and the Caribbean

By 04/05/2021News

In response to compliance with international conventions and agreements and the objectives of the 2030 Agenda related to chemical safety, the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) have begun a process of integrating policies on the management of chemicals and waste in its environmental regulations. Given the marked increase in the production and use of chemical products in recent decades and a limited institutional capacity to address the related challenges, it is essential that the countries of the region develop a regulatory framework with a preventive and integrated approach, taking into account experiences and international best practices.

This report was developed within the framework of the Intergovernmental Network of Chemicals and Waste in Latin America and the Caribbean, in response to the need to know examples in the region of the normative and institutional framework for the integrated management of chemical products and waste.
